I ran my first laps on a track on Sunday up at Saratoga Speedway, courtesy of the Speedway Road Racers Club, and had a blast!
Dean Thompson, president of the SRRC, let me use his previous SRRC season bike, a Honda VFR800(I think 800 stands for the pounds). The VFR a fun bike, sounds awsome, but I basicly just took it easy considering it wasnt mine; I need new tyres for my Gixxer.
The track is very short, but keeps you on your toes constantly, no time to rest at all.
Bottom line, it was fun, good way to get used to cornering, and leaning at a racing speed.
I recommend it to anyone, especially new riders, wanting to be able to push yourself that little extra, and fine tune your skills in a controled enviroment.
I cant thank Dean enough for the loan of the VFR, I really appreciated it.
I will be back next week for the riding clinic Dean's club is hosting. Check out http://www.srrc.ca/ for more info.
