If you didn't know, BC has some of the best rugby action you'll get in North America. The majority of the National 15's and 7's team players hail form here and Ontario. And the Premier division is the highest out of the several divisions that run in BC. Many of the national team guys and ex-international players play for the local clubs here. If you love rugby, come on out. If you haven't been to a game, you gotta check it out at least once! IMHO it's way better than American Football.
Three games to check out:
#1 Capilanos vs. #8 Burnaby Lake - Khalanie Field (North Vancouver)
#2 UBC Old Boys vs. #7 James Bay - Jericho Fields at Jericho Beach (Vancouver)
#3 Meralomas vs. #6 Castaway-Wanderers - Connaught Field (Kits High School - Vancouver)
All three games will be local, well for the big city boys and girls at least. The first game will be a blowout, for sure. But the other two will be great matches.
I recommend coming out to watch my club, the UBC Old Boys. We're facing off again the hated Bays, who knocked us out of the semis with a penalty kick with no time left in the game to steal the match last year. There will be plenty of hard, heavy contact with a lot of action in the backs as well.
There will also be a bbq on the field as well as a beer garden. Come out and enjoy the sun and catch a great sport at the same time.
To those who know rugby, you will recognize some of the players who will be playing in the Old Boys - Bays game: Players such as: Gareth Rees, John Graf, John Hutchinson, Troy McDonald, Jesse Frender, Jim Douglas, Jim Yeganegi, Marco Di Giralamo, Quentin Fyffe, Kevin Wirachowski, etc., etc.
