Well we were out for a group ride lastnight when one of our group got a call on the cell. There has been a head on between a bike and a car on the blackwater ( a local twistie road that we ride alot). One of our team lives out on this road and is not out with us last night. I called his pager to be sure it was not him and then waited. Half an hour passed with no response. I had a sinking feeling and great concern for my friend. we got on our bikes and headed for the blackwater. When we came apon the scene there was green all over the road. the cops wouldn't tell us anything and moved us along. As we passed we saw his helmet on the cop car and knew it was him. My father in-law lives just up the road from the scene of the accident so we called to find out if he knew anything. He confirmed that the rider was in fact dead. From what we could see Ben locked up the tires for about fifteen feet and impacted the car on the passenger side front corner. The car turned in front of him to go into a driveway. He was going pretty hard from what we have heard but i just don't understand what the driver of the car was doing. Ben only locked up his tires for fifteen feet which to me says he was fairly close when the car started to turn. This is a terrible accident and we will miss our beloved friend dearly. Ben was an amazing person and had so much to live for (he was only 25 years old). He had his ticket bought and was leaving for austraillia june 22 to work for a year. Ben we miss you. Dirtbag forever.
