I had my Yammie 600R stolen about 2 months ago from White Rock. 4 days ago my neighbor had his 600 Kawi stolen from the same alley. Today he saw his bike being ridden on the White Rock strip. The guy was riding with someone else, on a R6, both in shorts and a t-shirts. He decided to wait for them to drive by again and when they did, tried to get them to stop. He and a friend managed to stop the guy on the R6, but the guy on the stolen Kawi took off, lane splitting past cars doing over 100kph down Marine Drive. They detained the rider of the R6, described as a short, heavy set Asian male, possibly a local, until the cops arrived. I was told the VIN # on the bike was removed, the ignition replaced, the plates where not registered, and the insurance sticker was invalid.
There have been at least 4 stolen bikes in the White Rock area in the last few months, and I am hoping that maybe we can find out who this guy is and who his friend riding the Kawi is. With any luck my 2000 600R (replaced out of my own pocket!) is sitting in this guys garage somewhere. Also, If you are recently missing a blue R6, you may want to call the White Rock RCMP, as I believe this bike is impounded.
