I just registered ... so hello! I started riding this year and I have a 2000 SV650S which rules. I took every course under the sun and aced my road test and now have about 1 month on the road (+ 2 years riding a scoot to save on gas I am embarrased to say ;-).
In the month that I have been riding I have been cut off three times, have hit a manhold cover in the rain, slipped on a road hump covered in oil, almost had a head on collision with an ***hole in an audi taking a corner wide on his cell phone, been run off the road by three old ladies changing their mind on Cornwall and running a stoplight ... and the list goes on. In every situation I was so glad I had training and bought a bike that wasn't too powerful. I haven't crashed or dropped (whoops err ... I did "put it down" lightly in my parkade once .. ahem ... just to see what it looked like on its side ....) my SV yet (touch metal).
For any of you fellow new riders ... I can't stress enough how much it helps to get training, to buy books on riding and also to read threads like the ones on BCSB.com!
One more thing > learn how to fix your own bike > change the oil, etc.
Cheers to everyone & see you out there
