Well, he is my story of the Day. Infact Yesterday (Saturday) Getting excited about riding my bike up, down and all around the Island for the weekend, turned to a stressed out, aggitating time. Thursday I just bought my bike, beautiful f4i, some minor cosmetic scratches (barely noticable). So, I'm ready to go and excited like a fat kid in a candy store. However, by buddy GsxR's clutch is F$#ked! Naturally he ordered the piece in and began to install it himself... this was a mistake #1. So after 4 hours of figuring out the part, stripping the bolt then mix-matching the old pieces with the new pieces from stripping the bolt. His Battery died, it was left on while working on it.. Taking it back and forth form his house to his work for his Boss who races bikes to have a look at it..However from all that back and forth and waiting, I managed to put 100 klicks on.
Day two we made plans to get up early fix bike with the fully charged battery, however, no such luck and it Rained. I did not want to ride in the rain. So I brought over 'Serving it up 2', watched that, ooo'd, awww'd and cringed. Getting more of an urge to ride.... Day three rolls along (Saturday) and it is a Beautiful, sunny day. My goal was to change my engine oil, get my buddy's bike the the mechanic and head out. Well, the oil change was left half process b/c the time came around to bring the bike up to the Mechanic, so I let it drain in his driveway. It was about a 30 min drive the the Mech b/c he lives out of town. Waited there until he arrived and hung around for about an hour, to see if he was able to fix it there. It turned out he'll need to rip apart that bike and see if he can fix it... ( Damn suziki....) As I wait with my buddy. I slowly watched the rain clowds roll on by.... the drops began every so lightly... The good news is, it was light and cleared in 20 mins. Then the sun began to shine again and now I am really going nutz! to ride. Since I have been off a bike for a month! SO we rush to his house, finish the oil chnage, put the bike back together. I hop on, start her up, evreything seemed good, sounded good. I peel out of there.
I started going up the highway, Up the Malihat(sp) Past Costco doing 180klicks, just really enjoying being back on a bike. Once I past GoldStream, something in the back of my mind said " something is up with the oil" I pulled over right away, thinking I forgot to do something, I checked the Cap for the cover, it was still on and nothing was leaking. I just figured maybe I was being paranoid. I continued my ride. As I began to excelerate, I gunned it, and my back tire spun and I felt it kick out a little bit. No biggie, I just thought I was giving it too much ( I am assuming this is when the oil leaked out) . I went around a corner, and felt the rear tire loose a bit of traction. I thought to myself, WTF... I shouldn't be sliding at this speed, I was going only 90k/hr. I thought, well maybe these tires are still a bit new. Next corner same type of feel. Now I am just wondering, am I not negotiating the turns properly???. All of a sudden the red light and the engine oil light come on! I went " WTF!?!... I just changed you! you should be fine!" so I pulled over 15 seconds later at a safe spot, hit the kill switch jumped off my bike going to see what was wrong. When I looked down I noticed oil gushing out from the bottom! I was in such a panic to see where it was coming from I burnt the side of my eye socket on the exhaust... . Then I saw it.. the leak, it was coming from the plug hole. I then had a revelation, my buddy didn't tighten up the bolt, and I didn't double check. Now, as far as I know the engine did not sieze and from the looks of it there was still just shy if a Litre of oil that drained out where I pulled over. So I call my buddy to see if I can get his truck out and get the bike back to town. Because now I have only 2 hours before I work...
What I am overly impressed with is all the riders that made sure I was ok and everything was good. One lady pulled over in her car within 2 mins. Other riders made sure I gave them a thumbs up when they flew by, or they slowed down to make sure that I saw them to give the to show everything will be fine . Infact two guys one on a Older Ninja Redish colour and a RR pulled over and were off their bikes asking me if everything was ok before I blinked. I was extremely impressed by the support everyone gave to a fellow rider.
Now, As I told Action motorcycles the story, while I was ordering a new bolt for my oilpan. They looked at my in disbelief as how I did not fall. My Tire was soaked in OIL! I don't know how I didn;t fall either. I Supposed I was really watching those turns and not pushing myself when I felt my tire slip. So I got the bike back to my place, went to work immedietly. I was about 1hr late, but I called to tell them I would be. After I got home, I got a brush, a cloth and some hot soapy water, to get all the oil off my tire and bike.
I just hope my engine will be alright, and nothing is wrong. I am getting it checked wednesday for inspection for any damage. The Part is supposed to come in on tuesday. I don't know if I should oil up and run the bike, or wait until it gets inspected..... However, that was my Rant/story for the day. I just wanted to expess my thanks to all the riders on the Malihat(sp) that made sure I was ok.
