Please stop killing yourselves. Here is the basic math:
Motorcycle and Rider = loses in all possible combinations of accidents
I think it is time that a lot of the riders on here took a reality check on their riding skills and the risk factors that they are assuming in their daily riding styles.
I see pollson here reagrding do you ride without proper gear, do you ride without a class six, etc etc.
Let's not even talk about the "hanging off the bike going around the on/off ramp crowd", didn't any of you learn how to ride on the street, or did they secretly turn the Cambie Street bridge off ramps into a permanent race track and forget to tell the rest of us about it?
Just sit on your bike and go around the corner, do you really think Nicky Hayden would be seen hanging his ass off a bike on a residential street or an on ramp. I think not, he can actually ride his motorcycle.
I went back and read Dawson's post file this morning and I would suggest that all of you do the same. If you read his posts you will not be surprised at the sad outcome of his short riding life. His death was tragic but almost pre ordained
I have not gone back and counted all of the riders who were known to this board or were contributors to this board who have already died this year, or last year but the number must be over a dozen at least.
One of you should do this and make a forum to remember them in.
Why don't each of us wear a black armband the Sunday after a rider dies in Vancouver this year? May be that will sober some of you up to the reality of your riding activities
Please think about what you are all doing as you ride on the streets, I could never understand the restrictions on motorcycle displacement for new riders in other countries but every day I am understanding better why this rule applies in countries where bikes are far more accepted by the general public.
For Example, last year a friend and I rode to Whistler one Saturday morning and were caught up in a group of sport bike riders, full leathers, hot bikes, and lots of youth on their side. My friend is over 50 and I am close enough to it to spit at it. We were riding sedate BMW's - me on my boxer and he on his K1200.
We were having a nice ride to Whistler and towards the end of the passing lane before Lions Bay a whole flurry of sport bikes flies by us at 150+ K
The problem is none of those riders could ride worth a shit and we would catch them on the twisties only to have them blast ahead on the straight. They were driving like organ donors waiting to get to the front of the line at the morgue.
We finally pulled over at the side of the road and let the group get well ahead of us for our own safety and also to not spoil our ride. Basically the whole group rode like shit and acted like idiots.
On another ride a smart ass on a Gixxer went inside my wife on a corner on the 99 passing her on the inside. We were riding briskly and my wife is an strong rider with miles of riding. What was he trying to prove?
I have decided as of today that if any rider ever endanges my life or my wife's life on the road again I will take legal action against that person. I advise all of you to do the same.
Last year I was crossing Homer Street one work day and some asshole stunter wheelied by me at about 80 K, from now on I plan to call in those plates.
If the group of you do not begin to self police yourselves this board will lose (i.e they will die) a rider a week all summer.
So the group of idiots who posts the "get out of my way thread" should think go for an attitude adjustment, buy a track bike and rejoin the throngs of humanity on the street.
I am tired of paying high insurance rates because of stupid riders and I am tired of getting pulled over by the police just to get hassled 'cause a bunch of you have pissed off the cops with your stupid riding antics.
It is inevitable that one of the lesser gene pool is going to take out one of us ( innocent riders) this year.
Please stop killing yourselves, I understand that in many cases it may not be Darwinism at work, read the Hurt Report, and be careful.
Do not end up brain injured, paralized or dead at 25. Life is good, enjoy it, go to the track.
Do you realize that there are RIP smilies being used on this board there are so many dead riders to deal with?
