I heard that there is a different system in place that makes one pay $50 per point after one gets 4 or more points. I.e., at 3 points for speeding one might pay $128, but if you were busted again for speeding it would be 3 points, working out to $128 (new ticket) + $150 (for the three previous points) and so on. Is this the case?
Another question: how does the points system works till the license goes bye-bye? The reason I ask is that I accidentally passed a "ghost truck" on a double line (black, canopy'd, "Chevrolet" still painted on the back of it, king-cab, with a long box on the Hwy. 28 heading to Gold River). The Cop was actually fairly nice, and I don't think he threw the book at me at all. I topped out at 170 kph, and he only hit me for $128 for speeding and $109 for the line cross. Needless to say, look out for black Chevs. with hidden light bars on the Gold River hwy. Thank goodness it wasn't Officer Hayes (sp?), or I'd have been walking home.
