Dropped my bike tonight
After I got home from PG tonight (Sat.) I stopped by a friends a place and he's got a gravel driveway and as I was turning around to park, I dropped it and put a few good scratches on the right side fairings and bent the rear brake lever. I was a little cold and tired from the ride back from PG and wasn't paying enough attention cause I've turned around there lots before and I put my foot down once from starting to loose my balance and then the second time I wasn't quick enough (form not paying attention) to get my foot down in time. It kinda pissed me off a bit but o well, it's only paint.
My bike ran for about 5 seconds or so on its side. Will that have hurt anything. ie. oil getting into places where it shouldn't... like past the piston rings into the firing chambers.
Ive heard this story too many times ,,sorry to hear it but i know why it happens
maybe im crazy ,but the whole not putting your foot down thing unless you have to is ASS.When they tell you in the motorcycyle test to u-turn and you lose points or fail if you put your foot down ,,well hey heres some news ,If i think it MAY fall ,Im putting my DAMn foot down ,both of em ,and maybe i might hold on to something or throw down a mat or two .LOL
i put my feet down no matter what when im doing a slow turn where it may be slippery or uneven roads.Hell if its raining and i see a big puddle or looks like oil in the road im puttin my foot down in a corner like a dirt bike .I think the whole idea of telling people how important it is that you dont put your foot down owe you a set of farings .
Ya, that's a good idea. I don't think the gravel had anything to do with me dropping it though. I was just going to slow and not paying attention. I had already put my foot down once before it went down... from now on though I think I'll be putting my foot down. It's only a few scratches, nothing broke... that I saw in the dark last night... and I've got a friend who does good bodywork/painting so it shouldn't be too much to get cleaned up again.
No. You just flooded the carbs but that's it.
