Well it finally happened. I was riding up Canada Way towards Edmonds. Doing about 80...yes I know I was speeding. I also wasn't paying as much attention as I should have. I was checking my right mirror when I looked up the work van infront of me was pretty much stopped. It had slammed on its' brakes because the car in front did the same. I grabbed a handful of front brake and my right leg pushed down the rear brake. Everything then went into slow motion. I started to stop real fast, but not fast enough. I soon realized I wasn't going to stop in time. I let off the brake some and went into an emergency swerve. I banked hard right. My left mirror clipped the right corner on the work van, a few feet under the ladder it had attached to it. My mirror snapped back and then I nailed my left shoulder into the corner of the van. I almost made it by it but it got me in the shoulder, right on the shoulder padding of my Joe Rocket jacket. My left hand flew off the left bar. my body was parrelell to the bike. they bike started going down when i grabbed the left bar and recovered it. Thank god no one was in the left lane or I would have been toast. I'm totally fine. Shoulder is a tiny bit stiff that's all. Gear did it's job.
