Im building a go kart, just got my hands on an 11hp honda engine to replace my 8hp briggs and straton engine..One of my problems that i ran into with the old engine was that when i was trying to go up hill the go kart wouldnt go.. The engine seemed just not to have enough power but it is a 8hp engine and this was a tiny hill...The clutch wasnt spinning so its not the clutch, it just seemed like it couldnt make it but that doesnt make sense. Does anyone have any ideas for me?
Also does anyone know any good go karting websites, or forums or anything that could be useful...
hey sorry that I'm no help, but could you tell me where you purchased your transmission?
I'm trying to build my own go kart, but I cant figure out where to get a clutch transmisson that will slip at idle. thanks
What type of gear ratio is run?if its to tall it'll just bog down obviously.
also what style of clutch is in it?the engagment point may be out ,if its like scooters(centrifical)ypou need to adjust it with differant springs to allow it to slip.
icould be way off base also.
I dont have a transmission, only 1 gear! Off the engine shaft u just mount the clutch and then have a chain attach to the clutch and the sprocket on the axle...I have a centrifical clutch and i didnt even know that those could be adjusted...hmmm...the only thing i can thing oh is that my sprocket is pretty small and i think i might need a bigger one to get some faster starts....
