This morning on my way to work, I noticed that there was more traffic than usual on my street. I live in the vicinity of the firehall/police department/courthouse. Driving thru the courhouse area, I noticed a VPD motorcycle cop and a Police 5th wheel trailer and PU truck. This was around 10:30am. I took my lunch break at 3:00, stopped by home to grab some stuff to drop off at a buddy's place. Driving down the street to Dahlstrom, I see a police cruiser and the entire street closed off, traffic being diverted. Behind the cruiser in the distance, I see a silver bike on it's side. I dropped off the stuff and came back 20mins later. I walked closer to the accident, stood about 20 feet away from the bike. This was directly in front of the Abby Fire Hall #1. The bike was a silver ZX-12 in really rough shape. I looks like it was heading east bound when a minivan pulled out infront of it. The van was appeared as if it was broadsided, sitting at near 45deg angle to the main road. The bike appeared to have highsided as it was laying on it's right side while all the fairings on the left were demolished/ripped off the bike. Everything above the ram air tubes/intake dissappeared or dissentegrated, debris scattered all over the road. One of the officers on the scene told me the ambulance took the rider to the hospital. Around 4:00, the tow trucks finally dragged the bike onto the flatdeck still on in it's side. One of the fireman mentioned that the first thing the rider said was "Is my bike ok?", something these towtruck drivers have heard often before.
I hope the rider is ok, and a speedy recovery.
