i blew a fork seal last week. long story short i noticed some oil on my dash before i figured out it was the seal that was messed. i managed to clean that off the tach with no problems. when the seal really went it got all over the dash and i figured id clean it after i got the fork repaired since it seemed kind of futile because oil was spurting up at random intervals.
got my seals fixed today and when i tried to clean it off the plastic tonight it's still leaving a stain on the plastic. ive tried wd-40, dish soap, windex, vinegar so far but im not sure if im having much luck besides getting the real thick stuff off the top. does anyone know if the staining is permanent or if there is some other type of solvent i should try? if the staining is permanent does anyone know how deep the oil is absorbed into the plastic? if it is like a surface thing i'll try to sand it out otherwise im just going to leave it.
