July 11 ride to see Bog @ Ocean view, time,Details,Route,Volunteers
Good morning all,
It is Sunday July 4th and we are exactly one week away from Bog's funeral, set for Sunday July 11th.
This is going to be one of the biggest days in Vancouvers motorcycle history and to make it happen...
We need your help.
I've been assisting in the arrangements for this day and we now have a loose time table and route planned.
First, we need volunteers, as many as 75.
60 of these volunteers must have a valid class 6 licence and bike to act as group leaders for the estimated 600 riders that will show up at the Swan on the 11th and lead them to the Ocean view funeral home in Burnaby.
Second, the other 15 volunteers will stay behind and assist in the set up of the reception at the Swan. Setting up tables, putting up lights, putting out food, doing some driving around for last minute things, etc.
Ok, Here's the route for Sunday the 11th 2004:
4th Ave East to Quebec St. ((CHANGE))
North on Quebec St. to Terminal Ave. ((CHANGE))
East on Terminal Ave/1st Ave to Boundary Rd. ((CHANGE))
South on Boundry Rd to 49th ave.
East on 49th ave to Oceanview.
and turn right into Oceanview funeral home.
Time table and general plan for the proceedings:
All volunteers/riders are requested to meet at the swan for no later than 8 am.
The Volunteers will be given instructions, directions and details for leading their groups to the funeral home.
We are expectd to ride out from the Swan under Police escort in a formal funeral prescesion no later than 9am. The estimated time for the ride is only about 20 minutes. But as there will be a Police escort and possibly 600 of us, it may take a little longer.
By 11am hopefully all riders will be in attendence and the funeral will begin with Bog's uelogy. There will only be as many as 15 close personal friends to make speaches only 2 minutes long or so.
11:45 - 12:15 funeral home doors will be open for as many as time permits to see Bog in his open caskett before he is laid to rest.
12:15 - 12:30 Bogs caskett will be carried out by a group of pallbearers selected by Julia.
1m the first handful of earth will be placed on his caskett by Julia and the rest of us to follow after a few words from Julia.
1:45 - 2pm All riders depart.
At about 5:30pm-7pm, Julia is inviting all back to the Swan for the reception.
I'm not sure of the details but there will be food, music, and a general party.
All Volunteers are requsted to contact Amber, at 604-737-4945
