Okay, so I have a 1992 Yamaha Seca II.
In an effort to have my girlfriend go on more and longer rides with me, I'd like to get a backrest for her.
I've checked Corbin - a seat for my bike is like $220 USD and then a backrest is about the same again. Not cool. I found one on Ebay last week but it went higher than I wanted and finished at $128.50 USD - still more than I want to spend, especially as that does not include the backrest.
I've checked the luggage options. With Givi, a 36 litre top case, plus mounting brackets, plus backrest will be $433 + labour to install it. Way more than I want to spend. I understand that there would be some intrinsic benefits to the top case, but $433 on a bike that's 12 years old? Tough to justify.
Am I being unreasonable in hoping for something less expensive? I was hoping for sub $200, if possible.
Would it be easier to just get some sort of mounting bracket made up with a pad on it? There are four holes right behind the the passenger seat on the top of the tail section. I presume those have some purpose...probably for a mounting bracket of some sort...?
I saw an older Suzuki GS750 today with what looked like a luggage rack of some sort on the back with a nice comfy looking backrest attached to it.
Throwing in a couple of pictures for good measure:
These are the four holes in the tail section:
This is what the sidehooks under the tail are like...perhaps part of a potential attachment..?
