Holy S**t!! I went out to the Chrysler Gold Medal Drive at Boundary Bay today. Once you get all checked in and get a wrist band you can go and drive the various Chrysler offerings AND take some rides in their Thrill Machines: SRT4 (Turbo Neon), STR10 (Ram Truck with Viper motor) & Viper. The drivers are all pro race drivers. Before you turn your nose up at the SRT4, give it a try, it's pretty quick but the real thrill was a ride in the Viper.
I couldn't believe that you could develop so much side g-force and still be going forward!! The grip on that thing is awesome! The brakes are also great, I was surprised at how quickly it would haul this thing down, it didn't seem like he should be able to make the first corner but the best part was the little set of esses near the finish.
The truck was also pretty quick but that one made me really nervous. A 4x4 isn't supposed to drift through corners. I kept wondering why they hadn't put a rollbar in this thing.
If you get a chance go out and check it out.
There were two very large Asian gentlemen who were trying out the new Chrysler 300C. They were whaling the daylights out of this car and stepped out with huge grins on their faces. The Chrysler people didn't look quite so happy. We also got a chance to drive the new Crossfire, unfortunately it was a very short drive but it is a very nice car.
