I am installing my heli bars and I also have to install a longer brake line. I will have to drain, refill and bleed my front hydraulic system. Anyone have some tips on how to do this without making a big mess. I've already got a plastic throw cloth to put over my tank and other areas that might get spilled on. Will the plastic throw cloth keep the fluid off the bike or will it eat right threw the platic sheet?
To drain the system I'm thinking I can put 1/4" diameter plastic hose on the bleed valves of the calipers. Put the other end of the hose in some sort of container. Open the valves and pump the brake lever to get the fluid out.
To get the fluid back in I think I can then open the reservior and pour and pump the brake until fluid comes out the hoses.
To bleed the brakes, I'm not so sure about this part. The aim is to get the air out of the system. I seem to remember from long long ago that I have to submerge the ends of the tubes that are on the bleeder valves into clean brake fluid and pump the brakes. Hmm time to do an internet search.
Thanks in advance for your help.
