i have a question about hard front braking. i've been doing some hard braking with the front and have had some unexpected experiences.
a few weeks ago i was approaching a red light and was hard on the front br. the front end shook/hopped? and i heard kinda of a metal/bang sound. it felt almost like i hit a big pot hole. scared shitless, i figured my front brakes were coming off
i pulled over to take a look and every thing seemed fine. the road was smooth with nothing other than regular crosswalk white lines. even though the sound came from what i thought was the front end i figured it might be the chain slapping on the swing arm due to unloading the rear by the hard front braking.
a couple of nights ago same scenario, but a little harder front braking and a bit of a shake/hop but this time a couple of bangs. i think it's the front chattering cause i'm braking pretty hard but should i not also hear the tire whine aswell?
to little preload/compression dampening such that the fork stacks and bottoms and the hop/shake i feel is ripples in the road?
does increasing rebound dampening help this?
i'm used to riding mtn bikes with disc that i can stop RIGHT NOW. am i asking to much of a 400lb bike?
should i have my head examined for riding a bike that might have front brake issues
any replys appreciated.
