This is just a hypothetical question... right now I'm not actually plannin' on getting an R1, even though I was VERY close to buying the one that BF advertised a few weeks ago...; had many talks with the owner but someone in front of me bought it before I had a chance to.
Whatever the case, here's the scenario:
I'm not exactly a veteran rider - I took my lessons at Action right about a year ago. I got my 02 ZX6R a week or two after the lessons and ended up using my own bike for the road test 3 weeks later and passed it, no problem. All in all, my total riding experience is about 4000km over a span of 3 months. I learned fairly quickly... never really had any problems handling my ZX6R. Never crashed it at all... dropped it once coming down on a stoppie and another time pushing it in my yard. I did a little bit of stunting... tried some wheelies and stuff. I didn't have any problems keeping up with many of the other more experienced riders.
After my ZX6R stolen, I considered getting a liter bike. And when that bike advertised by BF came around, I was VERY interested in it, and as said, almost got it.
In my mind, I have no doubts whatsoever that I would be able to handle an R1. I had no problems with the ZX6R, and I feel that I would be able to handle the step up to an R1. I feel that I'm no less able to handle an R1 than some others that have significantly more riding experience than I do.
So am I crazy to think that I can handle an R1 given my limited experience?
