While sitting in a meeting regarding Bike theft prevention with ICBC I started wondering if people here are retarded. In the meeting we were talking about how many bikes are being taken and wondering what people are doing to prevent it. Everybody knows how bad it is and there are products out there that will prevent it, so whats going on? It's costing us all money because some of you don't make the investment to properly protect your motorcycle. The main page today has at least 5 bike thefts showing. Open your eyes people, it's a losing battle. Do the math ( I have to give estimates because ICBC can't disclose the actual numbers because they are private records)
there are approx 15,000 registered bikes in BC. This Summer there have been at least 10 stolen each week. Thats over 250 so far at an average payout of over $12000 because they usually grab the nice ones. That's over $300,000 paid out and where do you think the money comes from? OUR RATES. Hell, if we can't police the thefts we should be policing each other to use better precautions that actually work.
Every body has an alarm these days. Whoopie,,I have one that I put on to test for a friend who imports them. Would I trust my bike to it? Hell no. Its a fuking toy, no better than the talking ones they put on cars which do nothing more than irritate people. Some say they keep honest people honest-news flash-honest people don't steal bikes, thieves do. Do you really think a good thief is going to be bothered by a little noise? Bieu, sorry man but that was a huge faux pas putting the post up about your ride being jacked when the goods were supposed to be protecting it. I feel for you man, and I do fully agree with alarms for public occasions, but what can I say,,,ooops. No one is going to find these bikes because these guys are fukin pros and the stats are proving it. And as for you folks out there trusting an ignition kill-whats the difference if they are going to put it in a truck anyways. Your actual worry should be when the off-shore circuitry fails in third while rounding a bend at 150 kph and BOOM ,,,no power because you thought it would be novel to play with your factory ignition wiring.
The part that kills me the most is just the number of posts. Obviously everybody knows how bad its getting because you can't miss all the tragic threads with all the fake sympathies that people put in to boost their post stats. Where's the sympathy for the people that went out and paid for a lock system that works rather than a toy to show their friends, yet still get penalized with higher premiums. Get an anchor-system if you live in a condo (or even a home these days). Ask your local stores if they have ever heard of a bike getting stolen from one. Whats that? You don't think you are allowed to? WTF kind of lame excuse is that? I use one and I didn't ask my strata's permission to be allowed to protect my own property. When you move just fill in the little holes with putty. What are they going to do? Evict you for protecting what is yours?
Lets get real people....this shit is costing us all money. You can bitch about the thieves all you want but they will always be there. Smarter than you? Yes they are because you have the options available locally to buy and use better anti theft systems and you don't. Your bike gets stolen-it was your choice not to put the right protection on it so stop being a bunch of f__king whining victims and do somthing about it.
For those of you who have already,,,THANK YOU!
