Ouch....crappy deal. My thoughts.....take it to the track to avoid $h1t klike this happening.
Holy Crap! What was that thing?
Hope the rider was okay.
looked like a fokkin rabbit to me
THE MOST DANGEROUS PART OF A BIKE, IS THE NUT THAT CONNECTS THE SEAT, TO THE HANDLEBARS.
I almost hit a deer near River Road out in Port Kells this summer. I would hate to imagine what would have happened if I hit it. Phew!

That's a deer. Since when did you ever see a rabbit that big. Hope the rider is okay
It did look too big to be a rabbit, but some rabbits can get big too. I remember seeing a video on here of a jack rabbit getting hit by a race car.....the freaking rabbit was like dog size, and it took off the whole side panel of the car.Originally Posted by jako

Rider is a guy on the Island (video originally posted on the Vancouver Island section of canadasportbike.com). Rider ended up with a broken femur and broken collar-bone. 7 (8?) weeks later his shoulder is now fine and he's walking without aid (although 'like a gimp' in his words). Another 4-5 and he's back at work.
I'm surprised that someone found the video without knowing the story -- you had to e-mail the guy with the tank-cam to get it. How did you find it Moto?
Vote rabbit, should start a poll
If he had a vtwin with aftermarket pipes instead of a sewing machine, the "deerbbit" would have been long gone in the bushes by the time he rounded the corner.
Actually i found it on a car forum i frequent, crazy i didnt think it was localHow did you find it Moto?
Glad the rider is ok and getting better, hope he makes a full recouvery
It's an Island Deer. (Ya, some of them are as small as dogs.)
But that one was (operative word) a healthy doe. (Or immature male.)
My thoughts to the anti-deer-motorcycle-shaped-bullet-rider. Poor SOB!
(Glad that he's OK, gear likely saved him from worse.)
Heads-up (espc. now) there are all sorts of those out on the road looking to fatten up. And not limited to the Island either, out PoMo/Belcarra way I've seen a couple good size bucks. And they're not shy of cars... and could give a rats-a$$ about bikes.
Anyone know if those whistle-thingys actually work? (Thinking of mounting one on the bike.)

Used to happen at Westwood a couple times a year. Tracks are outdoors and unless fully enclosed in a dome, you're subject to the meanderings of a "deerbbit" too.Originally Posted by jedi_knight
BTW, the deer on the track happened, not neccessarily the impact.
What was it all about?
