Recently a friend received what appeared to her a legit email from eBay about some one using their acount illegally.
I read it and saw this on the last line.......
"eBay will request personal data (password, credit card/bank numbers, and so on) in this email. Thank you for using eBay!
They even wanted her to re-enter her account info on the following spoof web page :
WARNING: DO NOT ENTER ANY OF YOUR INFO IF YOU CHOOSE TO PROCEED
I logged in as "GET BENT" and password "ASSWIPE" and to no ones suprise the web page immediately went to a new one asking.....the usual stuff...but of all things....an ATM PIN ##.....I mean WTF is eBay going to do with a PIN # for F*^&s sake?
After countless GENUINE emails from eBay and others alike that SPECIFICALLY state that they will NEVER ASK for detailed info like that.... people still have to learn.
