    Valve adjustments on 98 Fireblade

For those who know me, I'm a mildly mechanically inclined individual, but my valves need to be checked.
I want to know how difficult a job those here in the know consider it to be? Is this something that with a bit of patience and a Haynes manual I could accomplish, or should I just take it to a shop?
