Last spring it was suggested that some of you might like to do a introductory Iron Butt Association ride - the SaddleSore 1600 ( 1600 or more KMs in less than 24 hours).
Due to time and date issues only Lori (Mach 3) was able to do the ride.
She ( Honda CBR) along with Vancouver Sun reporter Larry Pynn ( Harley 883), noted motorcycle journalist Robert Smith ( Triumph Sprint) and a couple of Iron Butt Association members who "came along for the ride" rode 1779 kms ( 1105 miles) in a little over 20 hours.
You might have read about Lori's ride in the Vancouver Sun - it was part of the 10 part series on Motorcycling.
Brent (GS Pickeney) from this list, who is another official IBA witness signed them in at the end of the ride.
I will be organizing another Iron Butt Association Qualifying ride in June of 2005 ( more daylight then) for interested riders.
I expect this next ride will include riders from the local Harley Owner's Group and hopefully some BCSB riders.
We will be pre - registering riders for this ride and following the same route that Lori and "the boys" took in 2005.
Pre registering means that you will pay up front for your IBA membership and you will receive on successful ride completion (ride day) your IBA documentation. There will be no refunds for not completed rides. This will speed up the documentation process and avoid the 3 -4 month wait for ride certification.
The route will begin in Vancouver, then on to Hope, Merritt, Kamloops, Prince George, Blue River, Kamloops, Merritt and ended in Langley.
I hope to see some of you in the next ride. I will be posting the date in early March.
