Well it was bound to happen sooner or latter. For the first time I went down yesterday at 5:30 pm on Broadway. I was driving home on Boradway in the left lane going around 35 – 40 km/h when I saw car coming out of Manitoba street right at me. Luckily I managed to move almost all the way into middle lane so I did not hit him straight on. He did however clip my back tire just enough that bike turned enough for it to fall and send me flying. Good thing is I was going slow and had a full gear or this might have ended much worse. My gear does not have any damage as I was only sliding for few meters but my shoulder and neck hurt quite a bit from impact damage – I landed squarely on my left shoulder - as well as my right leg when walking and head if I try to move too quickly. Props go to people that were on sidewalk as they called ambulance and helped me get off the street and move my bike out of the way. Guy that hit me stayed there until firemen came and then drove off so being dazed I forgot to get his driver license. Luckily for me one fireman got me his plate number. All in all I am OK and was released from emergency with prognosis that there are no broken bones. Sorry for long post but this is my first ever accident and I still feel a bit in a shock.
In case you are wondering my bike’s left faring is cracked, left mirror and turning signals are gone and my left handlebar is bent.
Thanks for listening.
