I was out running some errands, picked up some food, and a movie, and was headed home. Was on my street, turn signal on, as I was about to pull into my driveway, when I found myself sliding on my face for about 10 feet, with the sound of crunching plastic in my ears. Don't even know what happened, but it looks like my front wheel hit some oil (or something) just as I was braking - happened so fast. Someone walking down the street when it happened said it looked like someone grabbed my front wheel and pulled it out from under me; such a bizarre accident. Lucky for me there was no oncoming traffic, so my bike just slid to a stop. The whole right side faring of my 1988 CBR F1 has been torn apart, some faring damage to the right front faring section, scraped up pipe, slight damage to my mirror, and a bent rear brake lever; other then that the bike is mechanically fine, and starts up no problem. It literally happened right in front of my house, I could not believe it.
Lucky for me I was wearing full gear; my pants got torn up a bit, jacket fared quite well considering I was sliding on it. My helmet has been ground down a bit in the front chin area - can't imagine if I wasn't wearing a full face!
I was amazed at the damage for such a slow speed incident.
If anyone has a line on any faring/parts for my bike I would appreciate it.
Just thought I would share, as I needed to vent a bit – just got this bike a few weeks ago!
