We are getting shafted in Canada in regards to new bike prices. I was looking at the US Suzuki Corporate site and a standard 2005 SV 650 retails for $5899.00. Converting this into Canadian dollars at todays exchange rate of 1.23540 equals $7287.62 CDN. List price on a 2005 SV 650 in Canada is $8499.00! (which is $100 higher than last years price even though our dollar has appreciated 20% or more.)
It is obvious the distributors/dealers are putting 100% of the exchange difference in their pockets.
Anyone buying a new bike should question their dealer why bike prices have not in fact gone down this year due to the huge appreciation of our dollar.
I can see brand new models being higher priced (if they have been completely reworked), but bikes that are more or less carry over models from last year should be priced lower because of the much more favorable exchange.
