Situation: you hit the liquor store and pickup a six-pack. You get home and want to pop a cold one, but of course IT AIN'T COLD! What do you do?
My secret for quickly chilling a beer: put it in the freezer WRAPPED IN A COLD COMPRESS (aka flexible gel ice-pak). The physical contact with the cold compress works waaaay better than just putting the beer in the cold freezer air. In ~5 minutes you will have something acceptably cold for drinking.
Anyone got any other chill-your-beer-quick secrets?
Anyone remember the complimentary tubs of cold water the BC Liquor Stores experimented with in the 90's? After going through the checkout your could drop your six-pack or wine bottle into the water and let it chill? Same idea as above but the freezer/gel-pak is cooler Whatever happened to them? I bet the store employees got tired of mopping all the water spilled on the floor.
