FACK!!! So I just finished modding my passenger pegs by adding LED's to act as turn signals. Did a nice clean job. Tested the LED's after I had everything soldered up with the bike not running. Yup. Blinky blinky! I epoxy the back to the peg to hold everything together, hook up all the wires, put the fairings back on, and get ready to go for a ride. I start up the bike, test the turn signals, I think I see a small flash, then NOTHING!!!
I'm thinking I killed the LED's because of the extra voltage when the bike is running.
I have 5 of these LED's wired in a series.
I tapped directly into the my Watsen Designs turn signals which are also LED's. A resistor is wired in parallel to my turn signals on each side I believe to slow down the blink rate. I'm thinking that I need to wire a resistor into the series of LED's to control the voltage. The problem is I'm not sure what resistance I need. This website suggests that with 5 LED's of 2V and 20mA I need a 100Ohm resistor. Does this sound right?
Anyway here is what my pegs look like. Damn if anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated. It looks like I'll be digging out epoxy tonight as well!
