Transponders / Lap Times
I am just curious what the lap timing situation is at mission. Does the DBCom system allow you to get a report of your times from the day at all?
Or does a seperate laptimer have to be purchased? Im not overly concerned with knowing immediately, but more for daily/monthly/race weekend improvements.
Though I guess such a device would be really handy for T&T's as well - is there an official beacon system there?
They're always posted next day at the latest. They were up maybe a few days to a week after the races for the last weekend on www.wmrc.ca. Check the results.
Lap timers weren't working well after the DBcom was implemented. There's always a beacon there. Just get the timer. Everyone uses the XT.
You can get live scoring data from the dBcom system as it happens. There is an article on the WMRC web site telling you how to do it. Look at the bottom of the What's Current section (select Show All). It uses wireless networking technology and takes all of 5 minutes to set up on a laptop.

The dBcom system also allows you to purchase an on-board display device which ties directly into the dBcom system so you can obtain your lap times immediately after you cross the Start/Finish line. It will also show your laps completed, time on track, differential + or - to your best lap time that session and lastly, how far behind you are to the racer in front of you. The designer is working on a model more ideally suited to motorcycle racers and will have many new features implemented to compete with the beacons everyone else is using.
