You may have seen this story in the news. Florida woman who's been in a more or less vegetative state for 14 some years. Fully lucid, but more or less a vegetable. Her husband is fighting to remove her feeding tube, her family wants it left in. She had no living will but made comments to friends in passing that she wanted no tubes should she ever be in the situation. (Forgive me if some of my info is wrong here.) Thoughts??
No heroic measures for me. I don't want to live that way. My father has had a living will for years, and although it terrifies me, should it come to it, i will do my best to pull the plug for him. A few years back I wrote up a will. I specified no heroic measures, but is a feeding tube heroic measures? Would she not then technically suffer?? Gray area for sure.
Was curious about thoughts of others here.
