    helmet standards

I saw an ad for a suomy helmet in a bike magazine. At the bottom it gave a different standard for safety that its met. By different i mean NOT Snell. I don't remember the name but it was a UK standard and it said it is the highest standard.

I'm just looking for some background on this other standard and how it compares to snell...

Also...are there a whole lot of standards that i just don't know about? especially if you go to europe or australia?

ECE 22-05 (or EN 22/05) is the european standard.
Suomy and Shark both use it instead of Snell.
Snell is just a rating used in the US and Canada.
ECE is an accepted race standard across North America and Europe.
