First Ride: '04 600RR v.s. '05 600RR
Ergo's: Feels a little beefier on the front end compared to the previous model. Other than that thicker feeling while initially sitting on it at dealership I didn't notice a different in this area much at all.
Engine: A little more zing in the lower rev's but feels a LOT stronger in the higher gears, I noticed myself cruising in a lower RPM range around town than I did on the '04.
Suspension/Chassis: At a standstill I was trying to feel a difference in the weight... I couldn't. I never would believe they shaved weight off this bike until I took it for a ride. The bike was VERY easy for me to move around, it jumped from left to right WAY easier than the '04, a huge improvement there. Now it didn't hold the line any better, in fact I think I was having so much fun jumping the bike around my lines actually got worse.
Brakes: (not "Breaks" for you challenged people) The '04 brakes worked fine for me so I really didn't pay much attention to this until I was on the way back. They actually do perform better, I felt it easier to be smooth on them compared to the older one, maybe I'm just getting better at applying them, could be either.
Overall impression: It felt good to be back in the saddle on a bike that felt familiar but just.... better in the ways you want it to be. They really couldn't go wrong by beefing up the engine and dropping some pounds, so really that's what the '05 is, it's an '04 that worked out and lost some weight.
Also, if people like this I'm gonna Test ride every lightweight out there and compare them to each other and put them in this thread. I'm no professional rider or journalist, but I do pay attention to things while I'm riding. So maybe when I have more time I'll go into more detail on this bike.
