Has anyone ever felt like the "odd one out" in a room full of people because of your love/obsession for motorcycling? Today in the staffroom I was excited that my new bike was in so I thought I'd share this with the other girls. I went on about the model, size, colour, power etc. When I stopped - one woman said "You ride, why do you do that? You couldn't find something better to do?" I explained why I love to ride and my travel plans on the bike this summer. She said "You mean you're going to ride your motorcycle all summer, by yourself? I just don't get it! My husband is all excited about taking his motorcycle out on the road! I won't even get on the back of it!" Then she shot a look around the table which 6 other pair of eyes nodded and agreed and then they turned back at me and scowled! I truly felt stepped on. So, I left the table - because I had something to do.....I heard them laugh when I got to the door and out into the hallway.
Why did I do it? Expect other people to understand? They don't. They won't. Have you ever had a similar experience?
