I purchased my comprehensive insurance through Coast Capital for my 2003 Suzuki GSXR 750.
It is 1 year, complete comprehensive (theft, damage, etc...), $500 deductible with $9,000 declared value and included $1,000,000 3rd party liability for $484 tax in. This really is all the insurance you need for a year with nothing missing. It even included travel insurance and more.
However, I needed my license plate stickers from our friends at ICBC.
The only way I could obtain it was with the minimum 3rd party ICBC insurance of $200,000 (which I do not need as I already have $1,000,000 through Coast Capital). This 6mo insurance (not a year) cost $350. Basicaly the plate cost me $350 from ICBC yet they provided no insurance.......
What a scam they are!
Total cost for 1 year comprehensive and 6 months license plates = $834.
I do qualify for a cheap rate though as I am accident free though for about 14 years and have had a motorcycle license for many years also.
I miss my Alberta private insurance as you do not have to deal with crooked crown corporations. I am in the process of looking into ICBC to determine if there is a way of addressing their policy as it appears to be monopolistic abuse.
