I've got a problem, not sure what it is but here goes;
I've been riding my 03 Sv650 for about 2 years now (figures) and the disk brakes have started to make a scratching sound. The pads have plenty of material left on them and appear to be making even contact with the rotor.
The pads are stock (No aftermarket EBC etc..) as are the rotors, which do not appear to be warped. I've tracked the sound down to the right front rotor and it only makes the sound occasionally. More noticably so when the air is exceptionally dry. Although not visually there I think there may be a slight warp in the disk itself as when I apply pressure to the brake lever and move forward the sound ceases to exist.
Any tips on how to mitigate this effect untill I take the bike in for it's 18,000 km service. (Broke student here, cannot afford to pay anything I dont have to.)
I'd love to take the assembly apart but I do not have the torque specs for the bolts (Yes I could find them online) But I dont have a torque wrench to apply the specs anyway, and I'm not sure if I'm willing to go far beyond bleeding the lines with something that has to ocassionally slow me down from double the highway speedlimit.
