1st Annual Gastown Motorcycle Show n' Shine - June 5, 2005
YOUR SUMMER MOTORCYCLE SHOW!!!
1ST ANNUAL GASTOWN MOTORCYCLE SHOW N' SHINE - JUNE 5, 2005
If 30,000 people drove to Abbotsford in the middle of winter and paid $10.00 to attend the Vancouver Motorcycle Show, just imagine how many people will turn out to an event that may only cost the price of a skytrain ticket. It's time to mark your calendars for the biggest motorcycle event the streets of Vancouver have ever seen! On Sunday, June 5, 2005, the B.C. Coalition of Motorcyclists, in conjunction with the Gastown Business Improvement Society and the Gastown Merchants Association, will be closing down Water Street between Carrall and Richards to put on the first ever ALL MAKE Gastown Motorcycle Show n' Shine in the heart of Vancouver!
Just picture hundreds of bikes in every make and model lined up along the cobble stone streets of Gastown and your favorite manufacturers displaying the best of their best. Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Titan and Harley-Davidson have all committed to putting on spectacular displays. This will be an exciting celebration of motorcycling that you do not want to miss! Check our website at www.bccom-bc.com or contact the office at (604) 580-0111 or 1-877-580-0111 for more information. Pre-registration forms can be found on our website. Hope to see you there!
Very well done. Good Job Adele & Shannon.
I quite liked the details on the scooter riders and, although I partially share you're feelings reguarding their lack of training, we need them on side because they are our most green & politically correct tools for the city.
I will ask to get some 'beemer volunteers to help out with traffic.
This is a free public event.

Gastown to host city’s largest free motorcycle show
June 5 declared “motorcycle safety awareness day”
GASTOWN, BC (May 26, 2005) - On Sunday, June 5, 2005, Gastown, the historic heart of Vancouver, will become a “motorcycles only” zone when it hosts the city’s largest ever free Motorcycle Show & Shine.
More than 250 classic motorcycles will go on display along Water Street
including choppers, cruisers, vintage bikes, sport bikes (European,
Japanese, American), fat boys, softtails, rat bikes, touring bikes, sidecars, drag bikes, scooters and more.
In honour of Greater Vancouver’s thousands of motorcyclists, Mayor Larry
Campbell has declared June 5, 2005 Motorcycle Safety Awareness Day. As an
added bonus, motorcyclists will have access to free parking during the show
along portions of Cambie, Cordova, Abbott and Alexander streets.
“Motorcycles and motorcyclists have been an integral part of Vancouver life
for nearly a century,” said Mayor Campbell. “We’ve got a beautiful city to
ride in and I encourage all motorcyclists to ride safely and enjoy the
Already renowned for its other two-wheel themed event (The Tour de Gastown, June 20,) which attracts 30,000 annually, organizers are expecting even larger crowds on June 5th.
“Gastown is looking forward to hosting the thousands of people that will
come to check out these beautiful motorbikes,” said Leanore Sali, Executive
Director of the Gastown Business Improvement Society. “It’s a great
opportunity for us to showcase all the great restaurants, bars, and shops
that make this such a great neighbourhood.”
“The B.C. Coalition of Motorcyclists is proud to be involved in the biggest
motorcycling event to ever take place in the City of Vancouver,” added Adele
Tompkins, Executive Director, BCCOM. “We hope this event will show the
general public what a great form of transportation a motorcycle is; how it’s
cheap on gas, better for the environment, puts less wear and tear on
roadways and is a viable alternative to the Single Occupant Vehicle.”
In addition to the bike displays, an expo zone will feature exhibitions by
Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Titan, Harley-Davidson, Ducati and BMW and a
motorcycle fashion show will feature the latest in motorbike chic for all
ages and attitudes. For more information, visit www.bccom-bc.com or
