I wear a Shoei RF1000 which is apparently a pretty decent lid but haven't been impressed with the amount of wind noise from day one. I started wearing foam ear protectors, then bought a set of custom made ones and now seem to be going back to the foamies because they block more noise.
Today I was out for a ride and the back was getting a little tired so I sat up as straight as I could and tipped my head back and viola, wind noise was gone. Now this is not a really comfortable position to ride in but I couldn't believe the difference in noise level.
Has anyone else experienced this? It makes me wonder if helmets are designed incorrectly for sportbikes because I was in the position a cruiser rider would sit, head up chin more or less level.
Try it, let me know what you think. Maybe we can start some action to redesign helmets for sportbikers so we won't all go deaf.
