Hey all. After lots of thought I have a question. Read through a couple threads and have come across an often repeated saying: "There are two types of riders, those that are going down, and those that have been down."
I haven't even bought a bike yet, or even driven one. I plan on buying a beginner bike and getting a course as soon as I can.
Anyways, the idea of this poll is to learn a bit more about this. I don't want to offend anyone with this which is why there is the third option. I personally don't feel comfortable talking about bike accidents (kind of an out of sight out of mind kinda thing), but I'm hoping either myself or others can learn from this thread. If to many people think this thread is offensive or uncomfortable, I will gladly delete it.
Alright, so here's the basis of this. Have you been in an accident on your motocycle? For the sake of this thread "accident" will be defined as crashing your bike and yourself being injured in some sort of way (ie. road rash, broken bones, bruised ego). Dropping your bike does not count. Walking away unharmed still defintely counts. Being hit also counts.
Please answer yes or no above, then post a little bit about what happened, what you believe went wrong and how others can avoid doing what you did.
I kind of wanted to be able to get a percentage of how many people who get on a bike actually get injured at some time. If it is just something that happens to everyone or only a few people, but that would require some different factors, that I can't determine from this.
Thanks for all your input. Drive safe everyone.
