I was on the nearby film set at Queen and 12th at night talking to my security friend there, and I was a beautiful sport bike (yellow, orange, black) race type sport bike go by at posted speed. Then a few seconds later (10 - 15) I heard a really bad crash sound. I thought it came from the Petro Canada there (someone backing into the pole or something).
Then I was an ambulance leave the Petro and up 12th. It was time for me to leave by friend so I did and just one block up on 12th, I saw an accident.
But when I got closer, I saw a bike down on the ground in front of a old shitty pontiac wagon or something similar. Parametics were rushing around the biker who was not moving on the ground. After a tense few minutes, the ambulance took the guy away.
I explained to the RCMP guy there, that I'm a huge bike guy and a BCSB board member and I was wondering if the guy was okay. He said "he is alive". But the ambulance took him away fast.
The crash scene didn't look bad, but the sound and looks of the bike guy, it was for sure. The driver of the car was trying to make a left hand turn to a side street as the bike was moving up 12th so not only by law the biker was doing everything legally, but by the way the car was left parked on the street showed the driver of the car was 100% af fault.
But the good news is I know they had 1-2 confirmed witnesses and another 2-3 potential witnesses.
Anyone know who it was? All I want is to know that he/she is okay.
I wish the biker the best of recovery to any injuries he/she got and I hope that ICBC/RCMP will place the car driver at fault.
