My opinion is use regular Yamalube for the first bit then change to a good semi-synthetic like Motul. You will get a million different reasons and suggestions. I would really suggest a search and make up your own mind.
I have used factory oil for the first oil change. I then switched to motul but the wife's F4i doesn't like the full synthetic the cam chain is way to noisy so I switched both bikes to bardahl and everything is happy. I have talked to a few bike mechanics and they say that the synthetic oils do make the engine run with more noise. I didn't notice it on my GSXR but the F4i sure made a difference. That's what I have learned I hope it helps.
Bardahl is a 10W40 motorcycle that is made in Canada and is not synthetic. I get it at my local motorcycle shop. You can check out Bardahl's website www.bardahl.ca
