i could use some advice.
i got my dog 4 years ago from the Vancouver SPCA, he had been seized from his owner. I'm not sure what Kody's first owner specifically did to have his dog taken away but it culminated in Kody being hit by a car and rushed to the hospital by the driver. the hospital refused to release him back to his owner as they'd had reports of this dog not being cared for properly in one way or another.
the reason i ask is due to all the headlines lately regarding dogs in the city, Kody had an incident this morning where he was most definitely the aggressor with another dog who was on-leash and it was apparently not the 1st time he'd done it. normally not really a big deal, dog politics, but the situation with the lady owner escalated to the point where i guarantee she (who was obviously pissed) will call the SPCA or Pound to report it. It was not exactly my shiningest moment as a dog owner and she likely thinks that my dog and i are trailer trash.
i realize this is a bit overly cautious of me but it would just kill me if Kody were taken away. he's very important to me, even if the feeling isn't mutual anymore, and i try to do the best for him today and for the rest of his life.
Are things getting more stringent with large dogs in the city? what kind of a reported incident is investigated? i have a pretyt good relationship with the SPCA having fostered for them for several years so i also know how much they follow-up on their adopted pets. any advice from someone "in the know" would be appreciated, feel free to pm me.
