You really want to ride someplace different, but you're nervous about being too far out and not knowing where to get gas or which road will be fun. You want to join some of the group rides, but they sound like they are really fast and you are worried about keeping up.
This ride's for you.....
Time: 8:00 Fuel, Coffee - Safety Chat - Ride at 8:30
Meet: Hope - Southside Chevron/Whitespot (Old Hope-Princeton Highway, on your right after you go under the underpass if you exited the #1 / #3 highway junction at Hope - Exit #170)
#1 to Spences Bridge - #8 to Merritt & reverse to return.
Plan is for a relaxed ride through the Canyon and up to Merritt. Good experience if you have never been through the area, want to ride a bit longer but are a little intimidated by an 800 km day with an average pace of 150 km/h (not that there's anything wrong with that ).
Initial meet & greet at the Chevron/White Spot in Hope. First fuel & stretch stop will be Spences Bridge (about 145 km). Then on to Merritt for brunch (about 70 km). Return by reversing route and back down to Hope (fuel stop in Spences Bridge again). Pace will be within 20 km/h of posted limits assuming some newer riders show up. Return time to Hope is estimated to be approx. 1:30 - 2:00 depending on usual mix of luck and precision estimates.
Departure times & related details are not subject to negotiation or whining. If it works for you great - if not, maybe some other time.
Warning - if the weather is clear the ride home will be hot (probably 30 deg C or better).
