There have been a few threads about taking care of leather suits, so I thought I'd review the Mothers products (bought at Crappy Tire).
Given the lousy weather today I thought I'd finally take a stab at cleaning & conditioning my suit. It was starting to look a bit gritty, not just from all the dead bugs on it but also the white parts of the suit were looking dirty.
Part1: Mothers Leather Cleaner:
I started with the cleaner and it did a great job. I got all the dirt of the white parts (they look like new again) and it did a decent job of cleaning off the dead bugs. I have a 2002 Teknic Speedstar suit with the carbon pieces and I was sure to avoid getting any cleaner onto the plastics as there is a specific warning against letting the Mothers Cleaner come in contact with plastics.
Result: Excellent. Really like the product and will continue to use it.
Part2: Mothers Leather Conditioner
Once the suite was dry and I'd wiped off any excess cleaner I went to work with the conditioner. It's pretty thick and I didn't want it clogging up the vented parts of the suite, so for anything vented I applied it to a piece of cotton cloth and then to the suit. For all non vented parts I just slathered it on and then spread it around. Application was easy and the leather feels nice and subtle again.
The bottom line:
I'm happy and my suit looks new again and it only took about 15-20 minutes to do the whole thing.
Hope that some of you found the review useful.
