RCMP shift focus from speed traps

VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - RCMP in BC say they are changing their approach when it comes to preventing accidents that cause serious injury or death.
They are shifting away from speed traps to more focused enforcement against drunk drivers, those not wearing seatbelts, and commercial drivers who are fatigued or are running unsafe rigs.
Inspector Norm Gaumont says there is no payback from speed traps in reducing the number of fatal accidents.
He says they won't disappear entirely...but will be limited to high crash locations.
