I suggest getting an LCD as well, no image burn is nice. and it frees up space on your desk.

As you will see a 21" LCD is very expensive in relative terms to a 17" or even a 19".

Until recently affordable 19" LCDs gave you the same pixel ratio as a 17" LCD. Now you can pick up a 19" LCD at Costco with a resolution of 1900 x 1200 pixels for about $700 and change. On the other hand you can get a 17" LCD that would give you the same resoution as a 20 or a 21" CRT for under $400.

I got a 21 inch widescreen LCD but I do a lot of graphics and some video work. They aren't cheap. Unless you have money to burn I would go with a smaller monitor but with a higher pixel density like I mentioned above.

Or just get 2 17" lcds and run them side by side. I do that right now with 2 crts and I love the extra viewing space for sure.
