ok, it's 4 in the morning and i'm reading through all this bs about shops and people being screwed over and dissatisfied and i thought i'd help everyone out a bit.
i just wanted to give credit where it's due with Bill (5th Gear) about what he does for all of us in the MC community because i don't think it's ever been stated "exactly" what he does for us.
I've only known Bill for a few years but i can honestly say that he personally has contributed more to the local bike scene than all the local major dealerships combined. i'm getting so sick of people going to the dealerships because they think they're friends with the parts guy or they gave you a special credit card and that means they care about you. if somebody has some info about anybody else other than small shops contributing $$$ to the local scene, please lemme know.
These dealerships are multi-million dollar operations. i haven't seen one of them say, "hey, let's kick in a few bucks for the stunt riders", or "the motard scene is picking up, let's help these boys out", or "let's help out some of our local road racers with sponsorships because we know how hard it can be to get by". NOPE. all these fuckers see is $$$$$$$$$$ signs.
I'm not only talkin 'bout 5th Gear. i'm talkin about all the little shops like MSpeed, Borderline, Supersport etc., that depend on customer support and not bike sales or charging an arm and a leg for service.
I've watched little shops pour thousands of dollars outta their own pockets into local events and they see no return. Bill puts on events at Boundary Bay once or twice a week and trust me, he ain't makin money off that shit. the few of us that have been there since the beginning know this. these guys do this cause they want to. big shops do it because they want to make $$$$.
riding areas have been lost because of lack of support from major shops whose riders practice at these facilities but never kick in any coin. then most of us stunt riders who are doing our shit as hobby get blamed for ruining public riding spots for these factory sponsored assholes, GO FUCK YOURSELVES.
i know it was a long rant but the next time you think about gettin new tires put on or a tune up done or anything else for that matter, support a little shop that will support you back. guys that you can come back to where they know you by name and may give you a deal on parts and labour even know you're gonna get stuff done cheaper and with more care in the first place.
