Bike will start... and then die.. help please!!!
Hi guys, anyone know what's going on here? I've searched through the forum but haven't had much luck... my bike is an 1983 Yamaha SRX250.... here's the situation:
March: bought new battery
late May: reinstalled carbs (after they were cleaned at Imperial)
last week: bike ran fine... then dropped bike on left side... bike started again right afterwards, but then died again after I clutched in and braked to a full stop... the engine would wind down from 4000rpm and then to 0... bike would bumpstart though.
today: put in full tank of premium gas, bike starts on first try... ride down the block, come to a full stop, then it stalls right as the RPMs fall from 4000 to 0... it started using the start button, then stalled again... then doesn't start with the start button (but I can hear it trying to start), but bumpstarts....
Also when my friend was checking out the bike today he noticed that there is a gap in acceleration between ~2000-3000 rpms ... he's thinking there's a setting problem with the primary jet and the main jet in the carburettor... I'm not too familiar with the jets, but could it be that as the engine's dying down it doesn't know to switch back to the primary jet from the main jet?
I'm gonna trickle charge the battery and then try starting it again tomorrow.. any thoughts??
any help would be much appreciated!!
