I'm just finishing classes at Action (which has been awesome) and did my first road ride on one of the sport bikes Monday night. The weather stayed dry and the sun peaked out from behind the clouds a few times. I was the last rider in our group as we were heading south on King George, rounding the curve (going onto the overpass) just past 56th, and that's when it hit me: my Moment of Zen.
Leaning into the curve with four other riders in front of me in formation, the trees gave way to open farm land and the clouds in the sky glowed orange from the sunset low on the horizon. I couldn't help but look around and savour the moment: the engine reving ready and willing underneath me under my control, the sound of the wind whistling past, the open road and open skies, a beautiful sunset, and people to ride with....
...that's when I truly understood what getting on two wheels was all about. I'm not going to forget that for the rest of my life. And now, I'm truly addicted
When was your Moment of Zen?
