Well the ride is finished for this year, and now we can all look forward to next years ride. Last year we had one rider, this year 3 and next year….
The IBA has a slightly different ride know as the SaddleSore 1500 (1500 miles in 36 hours) a little more of a challenge, but a great way to see our province and perhaps a little of Alberta.
I am thinking of setting up a really neat ride for you all in 2006. This Ride will have even better scenery and more adventure for the riders.
Here is what I think makes a great ride;
Good riders (i.e. nice people)
A desire for adventure
A feeling of accomplishment when the ride is completed.
The “key” comments from this year’s participant are next and I have attached the route
Quote from Mr. Max. (Nick) New IBA Member
Anyone with good gear, (waterproof and warm), a reliable bike, and determination can do this. Like Patrick said, you become one with your bike, it is an indescribable feeling.
Quote from Canuk (Patrick) New IBA Member
The concept of riding that far seems daunting. I looked at this as a challenge to see if I could do it, not to prove anything to anybody. I found that spending that amount of time connected to the bike is rewarding in that you feel like one thing, one entity. More so than I ever have in 20+ years of riding.

A beautiful trip even with the rain. This is really a diverse province we live in, get out and see what it’s all about. What attracted me most about this was the challenge and what a challenge it was both mentally and physically.
…..you got me hooked on my first ride
Quote from SixGill (Graham) Just popped over from Tofino stayed up all night rode with the guys to Hope and then pushed on alone to Osoyoos – A new Rider (2 weeks) and a future IBA member
So far I have learned that my gear needs upgrading if I am planning on doing a IBA run:
Shooting Glasses (Yellow tint)
So how about this little 36 hour jaunt. Ending up the first sleep break in Jasper after riding the Ice Field Parkway and then after a few hours sleep and a meal heading back home by riding part of yesterday's ride in reverse.
I think it has merit - If some one can email me how I can paste a Streets and Trips map on here I will be able to finish this post
So mark your Calendars for June of 2006 and be ready to ride on a new adventure
